 The Rules [EVERYONE MUST READ!]
« Thread Started on Feb 11, 2009, 2:06pm »

Registration/Account

01. When Registering, Please make the attempt to register as your characters name and not something random like "Ilovekitties".
02. You May Have One account For Multiple Characters. But Only The Limit of Four Characters on One account is Allowed.
03. Don't just make profiles for the fun of it. Bear in mind that this board is meant to RP and not to write fanfictions. You'll have to partner up with others and fit in. So take a look at the existing characters, who might need a partner and then decide on a profile and write up NEW ones if your activity allows it.
04. We encourage you to RP with others and although it is true that finding another partner to form a weapon/meister team in itself is already difficult at times, it can also bring joy. We don't allow Weapon and Meisters to be played by the same RPer.

General

01. First and foremost, No Excessive Swearing, we don't need your character cussing like a sailor. This is supposed to be a pretty much family friendly forum. But I do Not Mind The occaisonal "Dammit" etc.

02. Secondly I do not want to see ANY bashing on Other Members Because of, Opinions, Ideas, Race, Gender, Religion, And The Many Other trivial things people discriminate others for.

03. Absolutely And Positively NO BITING THE NEWBIES. This includes, insulting, harassing and making biased reviews on applications. (In other terms, to not mess with anyone new to the site.)

04. Keep all NC-17 related things under the mature board. If you want the password, find any of the staff and contact them. We will gladly send it to you via Private Message; remember not to abuse the privilege of having the board. If you do not want to see anything in the forum past PG-13, then do not, I repeat, do not, ask for the password.

05. Absolutely, positively, NO SPAM. Spam is hereby Defined By: the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet forums. Which In Simpleton Terms Means, Unrelated, Un-useful threads that don't do the forum any good. When You Do Spam and Talk about Random Stuff unrelated to this forum. Please Keep it to only The spam Bin Located in The General Category.

06. Harassment is against the rules because even if we did not mind, it is against the law, and terms given by proboards. If you believe that you are being harassed, you are to report it to one of the administrators, who will look into the issue. You may play with people, and tease them, but do not go overboard in doing this.

07. There will be no applying for staff status, not through PM, nor through any other means (i.e. IMing staff, threads). Doing so will probably merit a banning.

08. If you have a canon character and wish to RP in the c-box, this is fine, but don't lose sight of the actual FORUM Rp because of the c-box AND RP the character like he/she is supposed to be RP. Either you are yourself or the character. No awful OOC RP.

RP

01. No Spamming in RP Threads, We Aim For IC threads that arent cluttered by OOC (Out Of Character or Out Of Context) Thoughts. If You Must Post an OOC comment, Make Sure to Use The following Symbols ((YOUR TEXT HERE)) or [YOUR TEXT HERE].

02. Regarding post-length; We aim for Three Good sized Paragraph. And A Paragraph here, is within the range of 5-7 Good sentences. If you can't manage this every time, nothing will happen. Before you are stuck because you can't create a good response from the previous post, don't crush your heads, but either tell the others that you want to be skipped or add a shorter post. The feeding of one liners to others on a constant basis IS nonetheless just rude. Bear this in mind.

03. When in fights, There is to be absolutely no God modding. Meta Gaming etc. The Definitions and examples of These two things are listed below:

"God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.

-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission.
-It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as
A gang Member, then you cannot have The Gang Member say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission.
Time is of Essence. A member can not strike twice while the other character did not even have a chance to comment on what they see.
You state your actions AND not the result.
If you need a judge for a tougher battle and so called battle master, contact a mod.

Another RP example of this would be:

Player A: Punches Player B
Player B: Dodges attack, grabs Player A and throws him. Player A flies at Player B, who warps behind him and slashes Player A in the back.

Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. In other words, sometimes using out-of-game information, or resources, to affect one's in-game decisions. In role-playing games, a player is metagaming when they use knowledge that is not available to their character in order to change the way they play their character (usually to give them an advantage within the game), such as knowledge of the mathematical nature of character statistics, or the statistics of a creature that the player is familiar with but the character has never encountered. In general, it refers to any gaps between player knowledge and character knowledge which the player acts upon.

04. You Must Have an Accepted Application Before You start RPing here. (This does not apply to fun boards where you can just try yourself in RPing, but the rest of the rules still apply even to fun boards.)

05. Proper grammar and punctuation are paramount, because that is common sense. We dont want post lyk tis. It really isn’t that hard to use the spell check, and it is suggested that you type anything up using Microsoft Word, or any equivalent program.

06. No 1337 speech. Save Chat talk for MSN, AIM, etc. Or The C-box. We Dont want it in rp posts.

07. Be active. It is not nice to keep people waiting. If you can't RP for a bit longer, write a departure notice to inform the others and don't make too many characters if you can't handle them. See more details regarding this in the Character Rules.

Character

01. You are not allowed in any circumstances to ever have a character that is godlike. Meaning Your character can not dodge every attack thrown at them. Or Kill in one move.

02. Please for the Staff of this forums sake, NO Mary-sues or Gary Stus. Those terms are defined as follows:

Mary Sue, sometimes shortened simply to Sue, is a pejorative term used to describe a fictional character who plays a major role in the plot and is particularly characterized by overly idealized and clichéd mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as wish-fulfillment fantasies for their authors. Perhaps the single underlying feature of all characters described as "Mary Sues" is that they are too ostentatious for the audience's taste, or that the author seems to favor the character too highly. The author may seem to push how exceptional and wonderful the "Mary Sue" character is on his or her audience, sometimes leading the audience to dislike or even resent the character fairly quickly; such a character could be described as an "author's pet".

A male "Mary Sue" is usually referred to as a 'Gary Stu' (or similar masculinized term). References to male characters being a 'Gary Stu' are less common than those to female 'Mary Sues'. They are generally identified as being much cooler, tougher, and sexier than the canon characters. Gary Stus are often shown as the popular, excessively popular, and the jock of every story. Girls in the story will fall over themselves to capture a Gary Stu's attention.

Also keep in mind that a witch is very powerful and not a regular sight. If you wish to add one meaningful experience to your life, this is acceptable, but it should sound suitable as well. "A witch showed up killed his family, but his hidden powers awoke and killed the witch/drove her away and now he is out for revenge/let him survive to enjoy his suffering" ... are all sounding nice in a dramatic sense, but were already used countless of times and don't fit into a witche's usual hobbies at all." BESIDES; NO MEISTER IS AS POWERFUL AS A WITCH!

The password is [K]amen.

03. There will be no"Soul Resonance" for the Meisters and "Soul Protect" for thew witches to start off with. Any of these sorts of things you can either be approached by the staff to discuss for being "chosen" due to your long and superb membership, or have a chance to win in a lottery-like setting at a later date.

04. The Character Limit is as follows:
Canons: 3 [This may change with an increase in members]
Allowed Customs: As Many as You Can Handle, yet ONLY 4 characters on one account and preferably only 4 characters in total IF you are not extremely active.
Witches: You can originally create a witch, but because of their power, you must make a Human character, before making another witch. Witches are rare!

05. For a character, NPC, or ability to be approved, it must be reviewed and accepted by 2 staff members. Also keep NPCs to a minimum. You are supposed to RP with others and not create your own army of NPC followers.

06. Read the template and follow it. They also contain rules about the creation of characters. Minimal length is written up, but as long as you manage to keep the details, it will not be checked too much.

07. Abilities should be within reasonable limitations and will be thoroughly checked.

08. New abilities have to be written on the ability sub-board and are only allowed after you progressed in the story. PM a mod, if you are already at the point, otherwise the abilities make no sense.

09. Be active. If you can't be active, write that you are temporary leaving and also consider your general activity while you think about profiles. It is totally unfair if you just wish to have fun and don't think about others. Your partners are waiting for your posts, they rely on you and cannot do much without their partners. This is less important for Witches and Others, but RPing is still no Solo Job. Inactivity on certain profiles, IF there is a post to made, will result in automatically rejecting future profiles and the RPer might end up being forced to tune down his Character List. Manage them well.

10. Furthermore Witches are Witches and nothing else. There are no such things as Half Witches. Because a person's mother is a witch does not mean that they become a witch themselves or have some magical powers. It is possible that a witch can inherit traits from their mother witch, but only IF they have awoken as a witch. Witch Magic is also always destructive. (Except for one canon character) A young witch whose destructive powers have not developed enough don't need to be evil, all others MUST. Their personality shifts to the dark side. (I think the manhwa Witch Hunter shows this the best, but it is quite apparent when you take a look at SE witches.) So no meisters or weapons who are also half witches. Kim could only hide because she shows no destructive power that could have been detected.

11. If you are a witch or a character with a rather unique house/forteress/castle filled with traps and monsters to guard your character, you have to fill out a HIDEOUT application in the board and have it approved before using it.

12. POST WHEN YOU ARE DONE with the profile, as well when you finished to update your profile after a mod requested it. The mods have better things to do than checking a profile over and over again to 'eventually' see something new someday in the future. It would also make things easier if you would type [WIP] or something else in your unfinished profiles as people just don't look so often when they ran into that 'unfinished trap' already.

13. Don't complain about the speed. We are doing our best and it can sometimes take a bit longer, especially on weekends. You can ask to have an approval and wonder why no one looked at it after 5 work days, but otherwise it is unacceptable. Some DO take offense.

Graphics

01. No Pornographic or extremely offensive material is allowed in your signature, your avatar or your custom title.

02. In order to keep The Forum fast for those who wish to see signatures we feel it is necessary to impose limits. Various combinations of images and text are permitted in signatures; these are summarized below:

[list]
[*]Text Only:
Text only signatures may have a maximum of six (6) lines of text (including blank lines), assuming the default font size or smaller. Larger font sizes means that fewer lines are allowed.
[*]Images Only:
50,000 bytes or less: Maximum of 500 pixels wide x 160 pixels tall
[*] Image and Text:
Signatures with both text and images may have a maximum of two (2) lines of text, assuming the default font size or smaller. Larger font sizes are not permitted. 50,000 bytes or less: Maximum of 500 pixels wide x 120 pixels tall

Note: If multiple images are used, then the limits apply to all images combined. If you are unsure on how to check your signature meets the required specification, right-click your signature, and click on "Properties" which should be at the bottom of your menu. This shoul provide you with the required information.

C-box

01. No Spamming, This was described above in the rules. If you have read them you will know what this means.

02. No Advertising, Advertising consists of posting a link to another site and saying "Join this place!"

03. No excessive swearing, again, its really rude and extremely immature.

04. No Flaming, if you have an argument to settle, please do NOT use the c-box as a way of figuring the issue out. Use the PM button, or IM them. That way we can have a civil site even if there are some conflicts. If you have read ALL the rules, you will have found the password. This must be PM'd to the staff member reviewing your application for it to be succesful.

05. The RP Rules also apply to the c-box, as previously mentioned.
